IN DEPTH: Gitman Vintage S/S 2012
Gracing more than fifty-percent of our men's rack are button downs. We can't get enough of them and we don't think any man's wardrobe can either. Gitman Vintage makes up the consistent core of that collection and rightfully so. Gitman Vintage is a division of Gitman Bros., an American shirt-making company based here in the US. Gitman Vintage--as opposed to their other divisions--offers quintessential American heritage shirts, referencing classic, vintage sportswear with its chalk buttons, box pleats with locker loops and double-track stitching. And they--unlike many company's--back up their commitment to heritage American goods by producing and making each shirt in the US at their factory in Ashland, Pennsylvania.
Each season the designers consult Gitman Bros.'s rich archives and resurrect a curated selection of vintage fabrics and prints to cut their shirts from. This spring Gitman Vintage offers tiffany blue and broken stripe oxfords, tennis competition-inspired chambrays, and crisp but casual ginghams. Like usual, the shirts excel in terms of their textural characteristics, each offering a particular nubblyness, sheen, or heft that other buttondowns lack.

IN DEPTH: Sessun S/S 2012
One of our favorite women's lines--but not well-known in the U.S.--is Sessun. Designed by Emma Francois in Marseille, France, Sessun offers feminine streetwear with a subtle vintage sensibility. Each season the line masterfully combines textiles, patterns and embellishments. This spring, Sessun nods to the 40s with nipped-in waists and rounded collars in a sunny, sorbet palette of pinks, yellows, and coral reds. Silks are hammered, knits are textural, cottons are embossed with jacquard patterns. Francois and her team keep it classic, though, carefully balancing their sweet vintage references with a contemporary French aesthetic.Take a look at our new Sessun S/S 2012 arrivals here.
